Fried Pickle Chips
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Coating
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated. Set aside on a plate.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the coated pickle chips in batches to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fried pickle chips warm with Stompbox sauce for dipping.
