Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.

  2. 2

    Add Water

Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while stirring. Mix until a dough forms and is slightly sticky.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 4

    Cook Meat and Vegetables

In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 5

    Add Remaining Ingredients

Add diced onion, minced garlic, and diced bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are softened. Stir in cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese until melted and well combined.

Assembly and Cooking

  1. 7

    Roll Out Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 8

    Fill and Fold

Cut the rolled-out dough into squares or circles. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each piece, then fold over and seal the edges with a fork.

  3. 9

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the filled dough pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 10

    Add Toppings

Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Top with sour cream, chopped green onions, and sliced jalapeños before serving.
