French Toast

Banana Foster

Toasted Pecans

Sweetened Cream

Method

Prepare French Toast

  1. 1

    Mix the batter

In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Soak the bread

Dip each slice of sourdough bread in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.

  3. 3

    Cook the French toast

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little butter. Cook the soaked bread slices until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Make Banana Foster

  1. 4

    Prepare the sauce

In a separate skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved.

  2. 5

    Add bananas

Slice bananas and add them to the skillet. Cook gently until they are warm and caramelized, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 6

    Flambé (optional)

Carefully add rum to the pan and ignite if desired. Let the flames subside.

Toast Pecans

  1. 7

In a dry skillet, toast pecans over medium heat, stirring frequently until fragrant, about 5 minutes.

Make Sweetened Cream

  1. 8

    Whip the cream

In a bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Serve

  1. 9

Plate the French toast, top with banana foster, sprinkle with toasted pecans, and add a dollop of sweetened cream.
