Method
Cocktail
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 1.5 oz blended Scotch, 0.5 oz dark rum, 0.25 oz Pernod, 0.5 oz Swedish Punsch, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (if using).
Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes. Stir gently but thoroughly for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full turns) until the mixture is well chilled and lightly diluted.
Prepare glass for serving
Discard the ice and water from the chilled serving glass and, if you like, briefly run the rim with the peel of the lemon to add aroma.
Strain and serve
Double-strain the cocktail through a julep strainer (or Hawthorne) and a fine mesh strainer into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove any tiny ice shards and pulp.
Garnish & Finish
Express the lemon twist over the surface of the drink to release oils, then either drop the twist into the cocktail or rest it on the rim as a garnish.
Optional final touch: add one more light dash of Angostura bitters on the top of the drink for aroma and visual contrast.
