Chill the Glass
Place a martini glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while preparing the cocktail.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, add 2 oz of gin and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth.

Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes (about 1 cup) and stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into Glass
Remove the martini glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Use a strainer to pour the chilled mixture into the glass.

Garnish
Garnish with either an olive or a twist of lemon peel, adding it to the drink before serving.
