Method

Main

  1. 1

    Chill the glass (optional)

If you want an extra-cold presentation, place the highball glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes before serving. This step is optional; a refrigerated or room-temperature glass is fine if you're short on time.

  2. 2

    Add ice

Place 6 ice cubes into the chilled (or room-temperature) highball glass. Arrange them so they fill roughly two-thirds of the glass, leaving space for the cola.

  3. 3

    Pour the cola

Hold the bottle or can at a slight angle and pour 355 ml of chilled cola slowly down the inside wall of the glass. Pouring down the side helps preserve carbonation and reduces foaming.

  4. 4

    Briefly settle

Allow any foam to settle for 5–10 seconds. Do not vigorously stir — a gentle swirl or a single gentle stir with a straw is sufficient if desired.

  5. 5

    Add straw (optional)

If using, place the drinking straw in the glass at an angle so it's comfortable to sip from. The straw is optional and purely for convenience.

Garnish

  1. 6

Garnish with the lime wedge by placing it on the rim of the glass or squeezing a small amount of lime into the drink for a hint of citrus, then dropping the wedge into the glass. Serve immediately while cold and sparkling.
