Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Roll Out the Dough

After the dough has chilled, roll it out on a floured surface to fit your pizza pan. Transfer to the pan and trim any excess dough.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Housemade Sausage Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Sausage

In a bowl, combine ground pork, fennel seeds, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well combined. Form into small sausage patties.

  2. 5

    Cook the Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage patties until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and slice into small pieces.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Pizza

Spread the sauce evenly over the prepared crust. Evenly distribute the cooked sausage pieces and sliced mushrooms on top. Sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

  2. 7

    Bake the Pizza

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
