Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 4-5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Peppers and Spices

Stir in the Calabrian chili peppers, sliced cherry peppers, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the peppers soften.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Make the Sauce

Add the canned crushed tomatoes to the skillet, stirring to combine. Let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  2. 5

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the peeled and deveined gulf shrimp to the sauce, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.

Serving

  1. 6

    Combine and Serve

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat with the sauce. Stir in the chopped fresh basil and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot, garnished with extra basil if desired.
