Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Add a generous pinch of salt.

  2. 2

    Cook Rigatoni

Add the rigatoni pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the rigatoni in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.

Making Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Tomato Puree

Pour in the Mutti tomato puree and stir well to combine. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Season the Sauce

Add the salt and black pepper to taste. Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 7

    Incorporate Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil and let it simmer for another 5 minutes to meld the flavors.

Combining and Serving

  1. 8

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained rigatoni into the marinara sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired. Enjoy your delicious Rigatoni Marinara!
