Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Knead Dough
Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Assembly and Baking
- 5
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness and shape.
- 7
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the rolled dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 8
Add Toppings
Distribute pepperoni slices and cherry peppers on top of the cheese. Drizzle Calabrian chili paste for heat.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone (or bake on the baking sheet) and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Finish with Basil
Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
