In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let cool.

Roll the limes on a countertop to soften them, then cut in half and juice them until you have one cup of fresh lime juice. Strain to remove any pulp or seeds.
Mixing the Margarita

Combine Ingredients
In a large pitcher, combine 2 cups of tequila, 1 cup of triple sec, 1 cup of fresh lime juice, 1 cup of simple syrup, and 1 cup of water. Stir well to mix all ingredients.

Adjust Flavor
Taste the margarita mixture and adjust the sweetness or tartness if necessary by adding more simple syrup or lime juice, to your preference.

Prepare Glasses
Moisten the rims of the glasses with lime juice and dip them into salt to coat the rims.
