Soda (single can)

Method

Prepare and serve

  1. 1

    Chill (if not already cold)

If the can is not cold, place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or in an ice bath for 5–10 minutes until chilled to your preference.

  2. 2

    Prepare glass (optional)

If you prefer to drink from a glass, add the optional ice cubes to a clean glass. Chilling the glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes beforehand will keep the soda colder longer.

  3. 3

    Open can safely

Hold the can upright on a stable surface. With your thumb, lift the tab until you hear the seal break. Pull the tab fully back to open the pour. Avoid shaking the can before opening to prevent foaming and overflow.

  4. 4

    Pour (optional)

If using a glass, tilt the glass at about a 45° angle and pour the soda slowly down the side to reduce foam. Stop when the glass is about 80–90% full to allow carbonation to settle.

  5. 5

    Garnish and serve

If desired, squeeze the lemon or lime wedge lightly over the soda and drop it into the glass or rest it on the rim. Insert a straw if using. Serve immediately to enjoy maximum carbonation.

  6. 6

If drinking directly from the can, open as described, tilt the can to your mouth and sip. Reseal or refrigerate any unused portion in a suitable container; once opened, soda will lose carbonation and is best consumed within 24 hours.
