1. Juicing the Lemons
Cut the lemons in half and juice them until you have 1 cup of lemon juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp if desired.
2. Making the Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
3. Mixing the Lemonade
In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice, cooled sugar syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
4. Serving
Fill glasses with ice, pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish with mint leaves if desired. Serve chilled.
