REFRESHMENTS

  1. 1

    Chill cans (if needed)

If the cans are not already cold, place them in a refrigerator for at least 2 hours or in an ice bath (ice + cold water) for 10–15 minutes to bring them to serving temperature (~36–45°F / 2–7°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare glass (optional)

If serving in a glass, add 4–6 ice cubes (about 1 cup) to a tall glass. If you prefer no dilution, skip the ice and chill the glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Open and pour

Choose the desired can (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, or root beer). Hold the glass at a slight angle (about 45°) and open the can carefully. Pour the soda slowly down the inside edge of the glass to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming. A 12 oz. can will fill a typical 12–16 oz. glass nearly full.

  4. 4

    Garnish and serve (optional)

If desired, add a lemon or lime wedge on the rim of the glass or squeeze a small amount into the drink (especially nice with Sprite). Serve immediately to retain carbonation.

  5. 5

    Serving multiple varieties

If offering several soda types, keep cans chilled until ready to open. Pour each selected can into separate glasses or serve cans unopened on a chilled tray with ice.
