Method
Prepare Glass
- 1
Place the tajin and coarse salt (if using) on a small plate and mix to combine. Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of a rocks glass. Dip the glass rim into the tajin mixture, twisting to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Combine
In a cocktail shaker, add mezcal (2 oz), genepy (1/2 oz), blood orange juice (1 oz), fresh lime juice (1/2 oz) and agave syrup (1/2 oz).
- 3
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well-chilled and slightly frosted.
- 4
Strain
Add a large ice cube or fresh ice to the prepared tajin-rimmed rocks glass. Double-strain (using a Hawthorne and fine mesh strainer if available) the cocktail into the glass to remove small ice shards and pulp for a silky texture.
