Cuban Hoagie Assembly

Method

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Pour in the apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with the juices.

Mustard Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the yellow mustard, mayonnaise, honey, and hot sauce. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Cuban Hoagie Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Hoagies

Slice the Cuban hoagie rolls down the middle without cutting all the way through. Spread butter on the outer sides of the rolls.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

Layer the pulled pork, smoked ham, American cheese, Swiss cheese, and kosher pickle slices inside each hoagie roll.

  3. 7

    Toast the Hoagies

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the hoagies in the skillet, pressing down lightly. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. 8

    Serve

Remove the hoagies from the skillet, slice in half, and serve with extra mustard sauce on the side.
