Mozzarella Sticks

Method

Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Freeze the mozzarella sticks for at least 30 minutes to firm them up, making them easier to handle while frying.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place flour in the first bowl, beaten eggs in the second, and a mixture of bread crumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper in the third.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Take a mozzarella stick, dip it in the flour, followed by the egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure each stick is evenly coated. Repeat for all sticks.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (around 350°F or 175°C). You may test the oil's readiness by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately.

  5. 5

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 7

    Combine Ingredients

Add the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

  3. 8

    Finish the Sauce

Just before serving, stir in the fresh basil and adjust seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat.
