Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Brown the Beef

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.

  2. 2

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the diced onion and green bell pepper to the pot. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  3. 3

    Add Remaining Ingredients

Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and beef broth. Mix well to combine all ingredients.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For deeper flavor, simmer for up to 1 hour.

Serving

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bowl

Ladle the chili into serving bowls. Top each bowl with shredded cheese and chopped onions to taste.

  2. 6

    Enjoy!

Serve hot and enjoy your housemade chili!
