Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.
- 4
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the all-purpose flour and add the pinch of salt. Gently fold into the mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 6
Add Vanilla
Stir in the vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
- 9
Cool Slightly
Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen the cakes.
- 10
Invert and Serve
Invert the ramekins onto individual plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Garnishing
- 11
Dust with Powdered Sugar
Sprinkle powdered sugar over the lava cakes for an elegant presentation.
- 12
Add Mint Leaves
Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and freshness.
