Burger Patty

Toppings

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cook the Burger

  1. 3

Preheat a grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the burger patties on the grill or skillet.

  2. 4

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them over.

  3. 5

Immediately place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty after flipping. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

While the burgers are cooking, wash and dry the lettuce leaf and slice the tomato into rounds.

  2. 7

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 8

Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a minute.

  4. 9

To assemble, place a burger patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun, add the lettuce leaf, a slice or two of tomato, and your desired amount of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
