Carbonation Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Base

In a large mixing bowl, combine the 4 cups of water and 2 cups of granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Root Beer Extract

Stir in the 4 tablespoons of root beer extract into the sugar-water mixture, ensuring it's well mixed.

  3. 3

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, dissolve 1 teaspoon of yeast in 1 cup of bottled water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the frothy yeast mixture to the root beer base. Stir gently to combine.

Bottling and Carbonation

  1. 5

    Prepare Bottles

Clean and sanitize your bottles thoroughly before use. Make sure they are dry.

  2. 6

    Fill the Bottles

Carefully pour the root beer mixture into the bottles, leaving about 1 inch of headspace at the top.

  3. 7

    Add Corn Syrup for Carbonation

Add 1 cup of corn syrup to each bottle. Seal the bottles tightly with caps.

  4. 8

    Allow to Ferment

Leave the bottles at room temperature for 3-5 days to allow carbonation to develop. Check them daily.

  5. 9

    Refrigerate

Once the bottles are carbonated, refrigerate them for at least 24 hours before serving.
