Instructions
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm (not boiling). Add the warm mixture to the dry ingredients along with the egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- 4
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- 5
Add Filling
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 6
Roll and Slice
Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log. Slice the log into 2 equal pieces.
- 7
Prepare the Topping
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar until combined.
- 8
Bake the Rolls
Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and pour the topping mixture over them. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- 9
Serve
Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your cream cheese cinnamon rolls warm!
