Biscuit Ingredients

Method

Biscuit Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Add the cold unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Buttermilk

Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

  6. 6

    Cut Biscuits

Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they are touching.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving warm.
