Churro Dough

Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Boil the Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Mix in Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Allow the dough to cool slightly, then add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until the dough is smooth and well combined.

Heat Oil and Prepare for Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Prepare Piping Bag

While the oil is heating, transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

Fry the Churros

  1. 6

    Pipe Dough into Oil

Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe strips of dough into the oil, cutting them to your desired length with scissors.

  2. 7

    Fry Until Golden Brown

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  3. 8

    Drain and Coat

Using a slotted spoon, remove the churros from the oil and drain them on paper towels.

Prepare the Sugar Coating

  1. 9

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

  2. 10

    Coat the Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until fully coated.

Make the Chocolate Sauce

  1. 11

    Heat Cream

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

  2. 12

    Melt Chocolate

Remove from heat and add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

Serve

  1. 13

    Plate the Churros

Serve the churros warm, dusted with sugar and cinnamon, alongside the chocolate sauce for dipping.
