Tortillas & Salsa

Method

Preparation of Pork

  1. 1

    Season the Pork

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this seasoning mix all over the pork shoulder.

  2. 2

    Place in Slow Cooker

Place the seasoned pork in the slow cooker. Add bay leaves, orange juice, and lime juice over the pork.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pork

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it cool slightly. Shred the pork using two forks and discard any excess fat and the bay leaves.

Preparation of Tortillas & Salsa

  1. 5

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side or until pliable.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Salsa

Chop the onion, tomatoes, and jalapeño. In a bowl, combine the chopped vegetables and fresh cilantro. Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture and stir to combine.

Serving

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

Serve the shredded pork alongside the warm tortillas and fresh salsa. Allow guests to build their own tacos.
