Oatmeal
Toppings & Sides
Method
Oatmeal
- 1
Boil liquids
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup milk (for cooking), and 1 tsp salt. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
- 2
Add oats
Stir in 1 cup rolled oats. Reduce heat to medium-low.
- 3
Simmer
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the oats are creamy and have absorbed most of the liquid, about 5–7 minutes for rolled oats. If mixture becomes too thick, add a splash of additional milk or water (1–2 tbs) to reach desired consistency.
- 4
Finish with butter
Remove from heat and stir in 1 tbs unsalted butter until melted and incorporated. Taste and adjust salt if needed.
