Preparation Steps

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together until well blended.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until fully combined.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spatula or a whisk until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are acceptable.

5

Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line them with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

6

Pour Batter

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

7

Bake the Cakes

Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

8

Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
