Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Olive Salad
In a medium bowl, combine your favorite olive salad ingredients (such as chopped green and black olives, diced celery, minced garlic, and oregano). Mix in a splash of olive oil. Set aside to marinate.
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Slice the Italian bread or muffaletta bread in half horizontally. Drizzle the cut sides with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper.
- 3
Assemble the Muffaletta
Layer the cured ham, Genoa salami, and provolone cheese evenly over the bottom half of the bread. Spoon the prepared olive salad generously over the meats and cheese.
- 4
Finish and Serve
Place the top half of the bread over the filling. Press down gently, then cut into slices. Serve immediately or wrap in foil and let sit for a few hours for the flavors to meld.
