Ingredients for Marinara Sauce and Meatballs

Method

Directions for Marinara Sauce and Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  2. 2

    Add Tomatoes and Season

Stir in crushed tomatoes, chopped basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce on low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Make the Meatballs

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

  4. 4

    Cook the Meatballs

In a separate pan, heat a bit of olive oil and cook the meatballs over medium heat until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.

  5. 5

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, transfer them to the marinara sauce and simmer together for an additional 10-15 minutes.

  6. 6

    Cook the Pasta

Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti or pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the pasta topped with marinara sauce and meatballs. Sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
