Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Dipping Sauce
In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of horseradish sauce, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Mushrooms
Clean the Portobello mushrooms and slice them into fry-shaped strips. Set aside.
- 3
Set Up Breading Station
In one shallow bowl, place the flour mixed with salt and pepper. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, place the bread crumbs.
- 4
Bread the Mushrooms
Dip each mushroom strip first in the flour, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs. Make sure they are well-coated.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Portobello Fries
Carefully place the breaded mushroom strips into the hot oil in batches. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 7
