Stuffing and Sauce

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain the excess fat and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Stuff the Cannelloni

Using a small spoon or a piping bag, carefully fill each cannelloni shell with the ricotta mixture. Place the stuffed shells in a baking dish.

  4. 4

    Make the Bechamel Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Spread half of the marinara sauce over the stuffed cannelloni. Layer the cooked meat mixture on top, then cover with the remaining marinara sauce. Pour the bechamel sauce evenly over the top.

  6. 6

    Add Cheese and Bake

Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let the cannelloni cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!
