Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, then generously season both sides with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet or grill over high heat. Once hot, add the steak and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, peel and mince the garlic cloves.

  3. 7

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter and minced garlic to the hot potatoes. Mash until smooth.

  4. 8

    Add Milk and Season

Gradually add milk while continuing to mash until you reach the desired consistency. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
