Method

Preparing the Oysters

  1. 1

    Shuck the Oysters

Carefully shuck the fresh oysters using an oyster knife. Make sure to keep the oyster liquor (the liquid inside) in the shell.

  2. 2

    Season with Furikake

Sprinkle each oyster with about 1/3 tablespoon of Furikake seasoning over the meat.

Making the Ginger & Ponzu Relish

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, combine grated fresh ginger, ponzu sauce, and finely chopped scallions. Mix well and set aside.

Preparing Garlic Chips

  1. 4

    Fry Garlic

In a small saucepan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the thinly sliced garlic cloves and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove garlic chips with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season with a pinch of salt.

Grilling Oysters

  1. 5

    Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 6

    Grill Oysters

Place the seasoned oysters directly on the grill. Grill for about 5-7 minutes, or until the oysters start to curl at the edges and are heated through.

Plating

  1. 7

    Serve the Oysters

Remove the grilled oysters from the grill. Top each oyster with a teaspoon of the ginger and ponzu relish and a few garlic chips. Garnish with micro cilantro.

  2. 8

    Enjoy!

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your grilled furikake oysters!
