Turkey Burger Patties
Thawing (if needed)
If the patties are frozen solid and time permits, transfer them to the refrigerator 12–24 hours before cooking to thaw. If cooking from partly frozen or fully frozen, increase cooking time as noted below.
Preheat a skillet or nonstick pan over medium-high heat for 2–3 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon neutral oil and swirl to coat.
Season each side of the patties lightly with salt and black pepper just before placing in the pan.
Place patties in the hot pan without crowding. For thawed patties (recommended): cook 4–5 minutes per side until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). For frozen patties: cook 6–8 minutes per side, cover the pan for part of the time to promote even heating and ensure internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Avoid pressing down on the patties to keep them juicy.
When patties reach 160°F (71°C), you can reduce heat slightly to avoid over-browning; remove when they read 165°F (74°C) in the center. Transfer cooked patties to a plate and tent loosely with foil to rest for 3–5 minutes.
Buns & Spread
Split the buns and spread about 1 tablespoon (roughly 1/8 cup total per bun pair) of mayonnaise on the cut side of each bun. If you prefer less mayo, adjust to taste.
Toppings
While the patties rest, prepare toppings: Rinse and dry lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into 1/4-inch thick rounds (about 3–4 slices from a medium tomato). Slice the onion thinly into rings and separate into individual rings. Have pickle slices ready.
Assemble each burger: Place bottom bun on a plate, add a lettuce leaf, place the turkey patty on top, add 1–2 tomato slices, 2–3 onion rings (or to taste), and 2 pickle slices. Spread additional mayonnaise on the top bun if desired and close the burger.
Serving
Serve immediately while the patty is warm. Optionally serve with fries, chips, or a simple salad.
Store any leftover cooked patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or oven to avoid drying out.
