Method

Tea Base

  1. 1

    Brew tea

Bring the water to a boil. Add the black tea bags and steep for 3-5 minutes, then remove the bags.

  2. 2

    Sweeten tea

While the tea is warm, stir in the sugar until completely dissolved.

Taro Flavor

  1. 3

    Prepare taro slurry

In a small bowl, whisk taro powder with 1 tablespoon of hot water to form a smooth paste. Stir in vanilla extract (if using).

Milk and Assembly

  1. 4

Combine taro with tea and milk

Pour the taro slurry into the warm tea and whisk until smooth. Add the milk and mix until fully integrated.

  2. 5

    Add ice and adjust

Fill a serving glass with ice cubes. Pour the taro-tea-milk mixture over the ice and stir. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.

Optional Toppings

  1. 6

    Prepare boba (optional)

If using tapioca pearls, simmer in water per package instructions until chewy, then drain. Toss with a little sugar syrup if desired.

  2. 7

    Assemble with toppings (optional)

Divide prepared pearls into glasses before pouring the taro tea for added texture.
