Method
Small portion

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold running water until the water runs clear to remove surface starch.

In a medium saucepan, add the rinsed rice, 1.5 cups water, and 0.5 teaspoon salt. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes if desired to hydrate the grains.

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.

Remove from heat and let the rice steam, still covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
Large portion

In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice with 3 cups water and 1 teaspoon salt. Bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18 minutes without lifting the lid.

Turn off the heat and let the rice steam, still covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
