Cheeseburger

Method

Cheeseburger

  1. 1

    Toast buns

Spread butter on the cut sides of the buns; toast in a skillet over medium heat until golden and lightly crisp. Remove and keep warm.

  2. 2

    Season and shape patties

Gently season the ground beef patties with 0.5 tsp salt and 0.25 tsp black pepper, then shape into four equal patties.

  3. 3

    Cook patties

Cook patties in a hot skillet over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Melt cheese

Place one slice of cheddar on each patty during the last minute of cooking; cover briefly to help the cheese melt.

  5. 5

    Assemble burgers

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom buns, add lettuce, tomato, and pickle. Top with a cheese-topped patty, then a dollop of ketchup and mustard. Cap with the top bun.

Fries

  1. 6

    Prepare potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into uniform sticks about 1/4 inch thick. Pat them dry to remove excess moisture.

  2. 7

    Oil and season

Toss the potato sticks with 2 tablespoons olive oil, 0.5 teaspoon salt, and 0.25 teaspoon paprika (if using) until evenly coated.

  3. 8

    Bake fries

Spread fries in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 425°F (220°C) oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping once halfway, until crisp and golden.

  4. 9

    Serve

Remove fries from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, and serve with ketchup for dipping if desired.
