Small size

Rinse 1 cup brown rice under cold running water until the water runs clear to remove surface starch.

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 2 cups water, and 0.25 tsp salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30–35 minutes, or until the water is fully absorbed and the grains are tender.

Remove from heat and let the pot stand, still covered, for 5–10 minutes.

Large size

Rinse 2 cups brown rice under cold running water until the water runs clear to remove surface starch.

In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 4 cups water, and 0.5 tsp salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40–45 minutes, or until the water is fully absorbed and the grains are tender.
