Preparation

  1. 1

    Gather Ingredients

Collect the Texas toast, cheddar cheese, American cheese, and butter.

  2. 2

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on one side of each slice of Texas toast.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of two slices of Texas toast, place 2 slices of cheddar cheese and 1 slice of American cheese. Top with the remaining slices of Texas toast, buttered side facing out.

  2. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, place the sandwich in the skillet. Grill for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.

  3. 5

    Flip and Continue Cooking

Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula. Grill for another 3-4 minutes until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  4. 6

    Remove and Slice

Once both sides are golden and the cheese is melted, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it cool for a minute before slicing in half.
