Fried Pickles

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Add Buttermilk

Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the batter is smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Coat the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, making sure it's evenly coated.

  6. 6

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place the coated pickles into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Drain Excess Oil

Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  2. 9

    Chill the Sauce

Cover the ranch dipping sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
