Chicken Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
Breading Mixture
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Frying
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to ensure the coating adheres.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken in the hot oil. Fry for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Drain
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Assembly
- 7
Assemble the Sandwich
On the bottom half of each brioche bun, spread 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. Place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato on top. Add the fried chicken breast, then cover with the top half of the bun.
