Fried Apples

Batter

For Frying

Method

Prepare the Apples

  1. 1

    Slice the Apples

Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Place them in a large bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Flavorings

In the bowl with the apples, mix in the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Stir well to coat all the apple slices evenly. Set aside to marinate for about 15 minutes.

Make the Batter

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 4

    Add Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. The batter should be slightly lumpy.

Fry the Apples

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.

  2. 6

    Dip and Fry

Take each marinated apple slice, dip it into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  3. 7

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried apples from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. In a separate skillet, melt the butter and toss the fried apples in it before serving.
