Pigs in a Blanket Ingredients

Method

Pigs in a Blanket Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). This ensures that your pigs in a blanket will cook evenly and achieve a golden-brown color.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Puff Pastry

Thaw the puff pastry sheet according to package instructions. Once thawed, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases and make it slightly thinner.

  3. 3

    Cut the Puff Pastry

Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry sheet into strips approximately 1 inch wide. The strips should be long enough to wrap around the mini hot dogs.

  4. 4

    Wrap the Hot Dogs

Take one mini hot dog and place it at the end of a pastry strip. Roll the pastry around the hot dog, making sure to cover it completely. Place the wrapped hot dog seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In a small bowl, beat the egg until smooth. This will be used to brush the tops of the wrapped hot dogs for a shiny finish.

  6. 6

    Brush and Sprinkle

Using a pastry brush, apply the egg wash to the tops of each wrapped hot dog. Then, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for added flavor and crunch.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove the pigs in a blanket from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Serve warm with Dijon mustard and ketchup for dipping.
