Plan seating layout in a single-level house with staggered risers: arrange 150 theater seats in rows of appropriate length to maintain sightlines and intimacy. Include two center aisles or one central aisle depending on room width. Install 4 low risers so every 3–4 rows gain slight elevation to ensure unobstructed sightlines and the feeling that each seat is close to the stage.

Install handrails at aisle ends and ensure a minimum of two clear aisles for egress. Verify seat pitch (row spacing) allows comfortable legroom while keeping audience close to performers (recommend 33–36 inches row-to-row).

Map the room and identify primary reflection points (side walls, ceiling). Mount high-NRC acoustic panels at first reflection points on side walls at seating height to reduce early reflections and preserve clarity.

Place bass traps in corners (floor-to-ceiling where possible) to control low-frequency buildup, especially behind and beside the stage and in rear corners.

Install diffusers on rear wall or upper side walls to scatter reflections and maintain a sense of space without deadening the room. Mount ceiling clouds above the seating area to reduce ceiling flutter and control reverberation time—target RT60 suitable for intimate music (around 0.9–1.2 seconds depending on repertoire).

Hang heavy, sound-absorbing curtains along side walls that can be drawn to further dampen reflections when required. Confirm all acoustic elements are securely attached and meet fire-safety codes.

Construct a low stage platform close to the audience (6–12 inches high for intimacy). Position an adjustable soloist riser so performers can be brought slightly forward and centered when needed.

Place monitoring wedges or set up in-ear monitor options depending on performer preference. Arrange music stands and lighting so performers have unobstructed sightlines to the conductor or each other.

Install dimmable house lights to allow precise control over audience illumination. Use warm LED front wash fixtures to light performers without glare—focus lights to avoid lighting the audience.

Position accent uplights along an accent wall (use blue gels for ‘Sapphire’ mood) and program subtle cues into the dimmer to create transitions and maintain an intimate atmosphere. Set up a programmable dimmer/control to coordinate house and stage cues.

Select and mount a high-fidelity three-way speaker arrangement (left/center/right) aimed for even coverage across all 150 seats. Add nearfield fill speakers to cover the front rows and under-balcony areas if applicable.

Place a compact mixing console at an acoustically neutral sweet spot (usually mid-room) to allow accurate FOH mixing. Run stage snake/multicore from stage to console and connect microphones, DI boxes, and monitors. Test gain structure, phantom power for condensers, and ensure phase coherence between speakers.

Set up in-ear monitoring or wedges for performers, and tune the system with real content—use pink noise and measurement microphone to curve the system for flat on-axis response while maintaining musical warmth. Reserve space for laptop or playback device if shows require it.

Install low-pile carpet across the audience floor to reduce impact noise and help manage reverberation. Apply walnut or dark wood finishes to wainscoting and trim to create a warm, refined aesthetic.

Construct an entrance vestibule (sound lock) to prevent direct sound leakage from corridor. Ensure finishes meet accessibility and safety standards.
