Method

Oatmeal Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.

  2. 2

    Add Oats

Once the water is boiling, stir in 1 cup of steel-cut oats and 1 tsp of salt.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let the oatmeal simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and have absorbed most of the water.

  4. 4

    Remove from Heat

Once the oatmeal is cooked to your desired consistency, remove the pot from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Serving Suggestions

  1. 5

    Prepare Toast

While the oatmeal is resting, toast 2 slices of either wheat or white bread to your liking.

  2. 6

    Serve Oatmeal

Spoon the cooked oatmeal into bowls. Top each bowl with fresh blueberries and brown sugar to taste.

  3. 7

    Add Toast

Serve the toasted bread on the side of each bowl of oatmeal.
