Oatmeal Preparation

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.

Add Oats
Once the water is boiling, stir in 1 cup of steel-cut oats and 1 tsp of salt.

Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Let the oatmeal simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and have absorbed most of the water.

Remove from Heat
Once the oatmeal is cooked to your desired consistency, remove the pot from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
Serving Suggestions

Prepare Toast
While the oatmeal is resting, toast 2 slices of either wheat or white bread to your liking.

Serve Oatmeal
Spoon the cooked oatmeal into bowls. Top each bowl with fresh blueberries and brown sugar to taste.

Serve the toasted bread on the side of each bowl of oatmeal.
