Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Generously season the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Pan

In a heavy skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steak

Add the ribeye steak to the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a golden-brown crust forms.

  4. 4

    Add Aromatics

Flip the steak and add crushed garlic cloves and a sprig of rosemary to the pan.

  5. 5

    Finish Cooking

Continue to cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until the desired doneness is achieved. Baste the steak with the pan juices to enhance flavor.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a plate for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 7

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 8

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher until smooth.

  3. 9

    Add Ingredients

Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix until well combined and creamy.

  4. 10

    Serve

Scoop the mashed potatoes onto a plate and serve alongside the sliced ribeye steak.
