Method
Preparing the Ham
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C) to prepare for roasting the ham.
- 2
Prepare the Ham
Remove the ham from packaging and place it in a large roasting pan. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern to allow the glaze to penetrate.
Making the Glaze
- 3
Combine Glaze Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed and heated through.
- 4
Add Water
Gradually add the water to the mixture, stirring continuously until the glaze is smooth and slightly thickened.
Roasting the Ham
- 5
Apply the Glaze
Brush a generous amount of the glaze over the scored surface of the ham, making sure to get it into the diamond cuts.
- 6
Roast the Ham
Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil and roast it in the preheated oven. Bake for about 15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
- 7
Baste Regularly
Baste the ham with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes to keep it moist and enhance the flavor.
- 8
Finish Uncovered
In the last 30 minutes of cooking, remove the foil to allow the glaze to caramelize and the ham to brown.
Serving the Ham
- 9
Rest and Slice
Once the ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
- 10
Optional Toppings
If desired, top the ham with cranberry sauce and pineapple slices before serving for added flavor.
