Method
For the Fried Shrimp
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Ensure they are fully peeled and deveined.
- 2
Set Up the Breading Station
In one bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, mix cornmeal and flour. Set a large plate aside for the breaded shrimp.
- 3
Bread the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with the cornmeal and flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
- 4
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.
For the Remoulade Sauce
- 6
Combine the Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- 7
Mix Well
Whisk all the ingredients together until smooth and well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- 8
Chill the Sauce
Cover the remoulade sauce and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
