Method

Prepare Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a rice cooker or a pot, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Cook according to rice cooker instructions or bring to a boil, then cover and simmer on low heat for about 18-20 minutes until the water is absorbed.

Prepare Beef Mixture

  1. 3

    Sauté Aromatics

In a large skillet or wok, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Beef

Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Sauces and Seasoning

Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and black pepper. Mix well and let it cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld together.

Assemble Claypot Rice

  1. 6

    Layer the Rice and Beef

Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and spread it evenly in a claypot or oven-safe dish. Layer the beef mixture on top of the rice.

  2. 7

    Add Eggs

Crack the eggs on top of the beef mixture carefully. Drizzle sesame oil over the eggs.

  3. 8

    Cook in Oven

Cover the claypot with a lid or aluminum foil and place it in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-15 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking.

  4. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve hot.
