For Cooking

Method

Make the Dumpling Wrappers

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add hot water while mixing until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Wrappers

After resting, divide the dough into small portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 3 inches in diameter.

Prepare the Filling

  1. 4

    Mix the Filling

In a bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shiitake mushrooms, green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Assemble the Dumplings

  1. 5

    Fill the Wrappers

Take one dumpling wrapper, place a tablespoon of filling in the center, then fold the wrapper in half and pinch the edges to seal. Ensure there are no air pockets.

  2. 6

    Repeat

Continue filling and sealing the remaining wrappers until all filling is used.

Cook the Dumplings

  1. 7

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 8

    Pan Fry the Dumplings

Place the dumplings in the skillet, making sure they do not touch each other. Fry for about 2-3 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown.

  3. 9

    Add Water and Steam

Carefully add water to the skillet, cover immediately, and reduce heat to medium-low. Steam the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes or until the water has evaporated.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove the lid and let them cook for an additional minute to crisp up the bottoms. Serve hot with soy sauce or your preferred dipping sauce.
